Lockdown

Adapting to the COVID crisis

Hope everyone is keeping safe through these tough times.

So since our last blog post the hospitality landscape has changed a fair bit to say the least! We had so many amazing public and private events that we were looking forward to trading at but as they say when life gives you lemons.....

It goes without saying that putting peoples health and safetyfirst through these times is paramount, but like many other businesses we suddenly found ourselves trying to decide if there was anadaptable way that we could offer some sort of alternative service. Something that had the same mix of fun, uniqueness, creativity and quality that we always strive to offer, just like when we are out cooking on the van.

Social distancing and isolation has forced everybody to find new ways of keeping occupied and entertained in and around the house, it's also brought families and couples who wouldn't normally get to spend as much time together closer. Hanging out more with our families and spending more time eating together is a gift we often take for granted.

We thought a great idea to break the monotony of the isolation would be to offer the kind of street food we normally cook up on Ronnie as meal kits for you to cook up and assemble in your very own kitchen! Its also a fun alternative to regular take away nights.

Trialing one different type of meal kit for the first couple of weeks we hope to have a wide range of foods such as pulled pork, and stuffing bap kits, cajun chicken, chilli hot dog packs, Bahn Mi baguettes, meaty mac n cheese and our street food fav gnochtopia in a bake format, venison Cubanos, pizza kits and even some dessert choices like rocky road and brownie bakes!

All the kits will come with allergen sheets, step by step guides and hints and tips on how to pimp up and personalise your own kits.

We hope that after a couple of weeks of trialing the kits out we will get a better idea of what works and what doesn't. Once we know this we will be looking to offer more of a choice every week. A kind of micro street food menu of sorts.

To begin with we will be delivering as local as possible to within the Forth Valley district, including Alloa, The Hillfoot villages, Falkirk, Stirling, Dunblane, Dunfermline, West Fife and everywhere in between. If we find there is a bigger demand and if Goverment guidlines permit then we may look into branching out a little further, Edinburgh and Glasgow way!

The idea is:

STEP 1: we advertise the weeks kits on our website and social media sites

STEP 2: you choose the kit you like and contactus through Facebook or at:

mealkits@stagbitesthehog.com

tell us your delivery details (name, address, postcode and mobile number), dietary requirements if any and kit numbers

STEP 3: we send over our payment details to you

STEP 4: once payment is made we will send over confirmation of payment

STEP 5: sit back and wait for your kit to arrive with the agreed delivery time

We plan on running competitions throughout the lockdown and might look into offering a loyalty scheme for the kits too.

We would also really love kit buyers to share their experience with us, through comments, photos, sharing posts, tagging friends. Whatever the case may be, hopefully it willencourage others to give it a try and they will see for themselves how much fun it can be.

Get the chef hats on!

We will also be posting another blog on The Treahouse Bakery soon

Happy cookin guys....
